Why Wyoming?
Reasons to choose a Wyoming Data Center Service Provider
Choosing the location for your managed services or colocation provider is an important decision. One that may take considerable time and energy. If you haven’t already considered Wyoming as a location, you may be missing out on a great opportunity. Cheyenne, especially, is an optimal spot for a data center location for many reasons, but they all boil down to cost. Wyoming offers excellent opportunities to data centers so they can save money and Green House Data passes that savings down to their customers.
- State Tax Incentives. Wyoming recently passed tax incentives specific to data center companies so that sales taxes are waived when purchasing new data center equipment. This gives Green House Data the opportunity to pass these savings on to our customers
- Top Notch Broadband. We currently have three 1Gbps internet connections with Qwest, Bresnan, and Level 3, a 10 Gbps connection through Qwest, and the ability to add up to a 40 Gbps connection from multiple providers, as needed.
- Plentiful Wind Energy. Our data center is completely powered on wind energy. We are centrally located to purchase energy from the several local wind farms in this region, and any additional energy needs are purchased from the local power company with certified Green-e tags. Wind energy costs approximately 10% more than traditional coal energy, but when paired with our facility’s additional green efficiencies, the energy consumption is up to 40% less than that of a traditional data center.
- Lower Propensity to Natural Disasters. Geographical location is always a consideration for Disaster Recovery plans. Wyoming is well out of danger to be affected by the earthquakes of the West coast or the hurricanes of the South and East coastlines.
- Lower Cost of Living. Cheyenne has a much lower cost of living than major metropolitan areas. Examples of savings: 38% less than Los Angeles, 36% less than Denver, 17% less than Chicago. We are able to achieve big savings in salaries paid to our employees, offering yet, another opportunity to pass on less cost to our customers.
- Easy Travel to Cheyenne. Cheyenne Airport offers direct flights from Denver and Dallas. Or, Denver International Airport is just 90 miles down the road from Cheyenne, and just an 80 minute drive. DIA offers economical travel opportunities from everywhere in the United States. Additionally, monthly remote hands come standard with even our baseline colocation services. We are able to provide typical services such as reboots or inserting discs, so many of our clients find no need to travel to our location other than set up or for due diligence visits. Migration services are also available.
We look forward to learning more about your business needs and showing you how we can help save money on your current IT costs.
