Stephanie Yant, Global Support Center Manager for Green House DataEver wondered who exactly is configuring your cloud servers or working your support tickets? The Get to Know Green House Data blog series introduces the hardworking staff at our data centers and offices across the country, helping you get to know not only each individual but also some of the company culture and philosphy behind our daily operations.

This week, Global Service Center Manager Stephanie Yant describes how she encourages the professional growth of the GSC staff, who are on the support front lines, and tells what she loves most about Cheyenne after coming from city life.

Which office do you work in? Are you originally from the area?

 I work in the Cheyenne, Wyoming office and have lived in Cheyenne for 2.5 years. I am originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. Go Hoosiers!

What are your favorite things to do in Cheyenne?

My husband and I really enjoy sports and the outdoors. We recently installed a basketball hoop on our five acres in Cheyenne and I love to be out there just shooting around. I just love to be at home – I am from the city, so I did not realize how much I would enjoy some peace and quiet until I got it!

How long have you been in the technology industry?

Green House Data is my first job in technology.

How did you first get interested in IT?

Honestly it was shortly after I started at Green House Data and realized that I could contribute to the conversation and occasionally throw out ideas to solve an IT problem that might help. I love to learn and this job allows me to learn every day.

What are some of your favorite work projects? Least favorite?

One of my favorites was when we formed the Runbook Committee out of the GSC Team Members. As a young company, we knew we needed to be able to document our processes for many different reasons, so I formed a team of four technicians in the GSC that would help us document all that we could.  Here we are, almost a year from its inception, and it has been so amazing to see the results across the whole company.  I love working on projects, but the results are what really get me excited. I don’t enjoy pulling metrics, so I have found someone who can help me with that - but again, I love to see the results!

What do you like to do in your free time?

 We have four dogs and also do quite a bit of dog sitting here in Cheyenne, so my free time usually revolves around dogs! We also love to go to the movies, go hiking, or just relax with our close friends. 

Coffee or tea?

Both, but only if they have sugar!

Star Wars or Star Trek?

Star Trek. My Dad and I used to watch it every Wednesday night when I was a kid, so it's something special to me. Star Wars? Why do we need so much romance in an action film – I don’t get it.

What do you like about working at Green House Data?

I love that my department specifically is the entry level department here at Green House Data, because I get to see what a big future my team has in this field. I get to be the one to give them the support and the tools they need to one day be an engineer, if that is what they're interested in. 

In a year, we have had one employee already move up into the Cloud Team, and that is so exciting for me to see! I also really enjoy the customer focus and having the ability to impact our customer experience every day. The GSC handles all the initial triage of our tickets, which allows us to have a huge impact on the overall customer experience of the company.
