Why Green House Data is Bringing Our Cloud to Denver
As you may have heard, Green House Data has completed our second acquisition of 2017 with the purchase of Ajubeo, a Denver-based cloud hosting provider. While more cloud resources are always beneficial to a nationwide cloud platform, some people might be left scratching their heads — after all, we have our headquarters just 100 miles north of Denver in Cheyenne, Wyoming. So what advantages are to be had from adding a Denver cloud node?
More Options for Customers
At the heart of any expansion is growth as a company. While some of that comes in the form of pure customer acquisition and new logos, a large portion has to be existing customers coming back for new IT initiatives, whether that’s adding a disaster recovery site or expanding application processing to an edge location.
Denver marks our tenth major market with a cloud node, offering current customers access to a new region and additional processing power and storage. We have also retained Ajubeo’s engineering talent, so customers have more resources for setting up, managing, and troubleshooting their cloud infrastructure.
Denver is the Business Hub of the Rockies
The Mile High City is ranked by Forbes as the #4 Best Place for Businesses and Careers, and Colorado has an unemployment rate well below that national average at 2.4%. The technology industry is growing rapidly in the area, marking 6.6% growth in 2016 with a salary growth of 12%.
A relatively low cost of living, highly educated workforce, and high quality of life have all made the Denver metro area a hotspot for businesses from across the country. Denver has undergone an favorable economic growth rate when compared to the national average for metro areas. Healthcare, government, aerospace, engineering, logistics, retail, STEM, and education organizations all call the area home.
Aligning Technology and Sales/Marketing
We’ve had executive, sales, and marketing roles based out of an office in downtown Denver for as long as Green House Data has existed. Many of our customers, vendors, and contacts reside in the greater Denver metro, and while Wyoming has an extremely business friendly climate, Denver remains a hub for enterprises in the Front Range.
By adding a local data center site, we are better able to meet customer demand within the area, as well as having a local cloud node with local engineering resources to better respond to location-specific needs.
Lower Latency and Better Performance for Denver Organizations
Some of that customer demand is driven by stringent performance requirements. Cheyenne is very close to Denver and is in fact a major fiber interconnection site for national networks, but customers with intense data transfer and data processing that comes down to differences of milliseconds will appreciate the improved performance delivered by a local data center.
Shared Company Values and Strategy
Ajubeo was an attractive acquisition target as they shared similar technology platforms and strategy with Green House Data. As a cloud “Built by CIOs, for CIOs,” Ajubeo forgoes the instant-gratification of hyperscale cloud for a more hands-on, personal approach that focuses on meeting business goals and designing a cloud around a specific enterprise and their applications. This is what we do every day at Green House Data as we deliver clouds that are Built right. Just for you.
The technology integration step will be relatively painless as we share vendors and platforms like VMware and Zerto. A dedication to compliance, security, and performance all fit nicely alongside our existing approach to enterprise IT infrastructure.
Denver is Awesome
Okay, so I’m a little biased as a resident, but Denver is a great city with much to offer. Abundant sunshine, great food, dozens of breweries, nearby access to some of the most beautiful terrain the country…it’s a good place to be.
We’re born in Wyoming, and we’ll never leave the Equality State. But as you can see, Denver made an attractive target city for expanding our cloud network. And as a second base of operations for Green House Data, it was only a matter of time until we brought our cloud infrastructure here, too.
